Mr. Richards is a Director and co-founder of Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys and has obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Pretoria. 

He is admitted and registered as an attorney of the South African High Court.
Mr. Richards obtained his Magister Legum (LLM) in Commercial Law and a certificate in Advance Labour Law with a distinction at the University of South Africa.

After his admittance, Mr. Richards was employed at KPMG as a legal advisor obtaining extensive experience in financial legal matters, commercial law and corporate law. Subsequently, Mr. Richards was employed as the Group Legal Advisor at Primedia Unlimited specialising in commercial-, corporate-, competition-, labour-, marketing- and media law.

Mr. Richards is well versed in all aspects of corporate law and commercial law. He specialises in commercial-, information technology-, intellectual property- and corporate finance, BBB-EE law, mergers and acquisitions, as well as structuring and restructuring of businesses. 

Mr. Richards also regularly advises prominent listed and private companies across a range of sectors, including financing, manufacturing, mining, construction, technology and private industries. 

Mr. Richards further has experience in multiple jurisdictions, including South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Mr. Richards has strong management skills and maintain excellent business relationships with his clients and colleagues within the legal communities.



After an extensive academic background of lecturing on law of contracts, labour law and law of negotiable instruments, Mr. Loots entered the formal legal profession after obtaining his LLB at Potchefstroom University of Christian Higher Education in 1993.

He completed his articles at Botes & Raubenheimer in 1997 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1998.
His practice as an admitted attorney started in the commercial and litigation division of Botes & Raubenheimer where Mr. Loots fine-tuned his expertise in high court litigation. At the turn of the century, Mr. Loots opened his own firm, JJ Loots Incorporated. 

Whilst the firm's overall focus was to ensure a 360-degree service to its clients, from collections to contracts, Mr. Loots proceeded to become an expert in High- and Magistrates Court litigation, with a focus on banking law, disputes and contracts relating to the construction sector.

After joining Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys, Mr. Loots was firmly established as a civil litigation expert with over 20 years' experience and brings a strong and charismatic aspect to the clients of Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys.



Mr. Bouwer obtained his LLB degree at Unisa. He is an admitted attorney and a member of the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management. Mr. Bouwer is an innovative and detail orientated individual and believes that there is no substitute for exceptional and focused work ethic combined with professional service.
His approach is towards adapting to the individual needs of each client. He completed his studies and articles simultaneously at Cronje De Waal – Skhosana Inc. and was subsequently admitted to practice as an attorney. 

He has the Right of Appearance in the High Court in terms of section 4(2) and his primary focus and experience are towards civil litigation in the High Court. He has a broad experience and knowledge base covering civil litigation, labour- and contract law with emphasis on result driven litigation. 

His private time is spent “4x4 off-roading” and exploring South Africa and beyond.



Ms. Geldenhuys obtained her Baccalaureus Legum (LLB) degree at The University of Pretoria. Academically Stella-Mari performed very well and that shows her willingness to work hard. 

During Ms. Geldenhuys’ final year at University she worked at the University’s Law Clinic providing a voluntary service to people who could not afford legal advice. 
During her year at the Law Clinic she was mostly exposed to family law (divorce and maintenance) matters. 

Ms. Geldenhuys was employed at Erasmus Scheepers Attorneys as a candidate attorney where she was exposed to most legal fields, which fields include labour practice, family matters, criminal matters and general civil litigation law. 

Later that same year Stella-Mari ceded her articles and joined Savage Jooste & Adams Incorporated where she was furthermore exposed to personal injury litigation (third party matters against the Road Accident Fund), medical malpractice, commercial law and general litigation, as well as insurance- and general liability law matters. Ms. Geldenhuys subsequently joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys and is part of the commercial law department.



Mr. Liebenberg completed his Baccalaureus Legum (LLB) degree at the University of Pretoria and has the right of appearance in the High Courts of South Africa.

He was employed by John Tribelhorn Attorneys as a candidate attorney, where he gained experience in family-, insolvency-, commercial-, contract-, labour- and criminal law, as well as collections and general civil litigation. 
He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and stayed on at John Tribelhorn Attorneys as a junior attorney.

He was later employed by De Beer & De Klerk Inc. as an attorney and gained extensive knowledge in the National Credit Act. He was first promoted to practice manager and shortly thereafter appointed as co-director of De Beer & De Klerk Inc. 

Subsequently Mr. Liebenberg joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys.



Ms. Groenewald obtained her Baccalaureus Legum (LLB) degree at the University of the Free State and her Master of Science (Real Estate) (MSc Real Estate) degree at the University of Pretoria. 

She is an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary public.
She is passionate about her chosen fields of law being all matters relating to conveyancing, notarial practice and the administration of deceased estates. 

She has a keen sense of responsibility and will go the extra mile for clients to deliver professional work of a high quality and standard.



Mr. Brönner completed his Baccalaures Legum (LLB) at the North West University, Potchefstroom and has a great interest in the field of criminal law.

He was employed by Brits & Weideman Attorneys as a candidate attorney where he was exposed to various legal fields such as criminal law, family law, law of contracts, collections and general civil litigation.
He was admitted as an attorney and appointed as Head of Litigation at Matsepes Inc., situated in Bloemfontein. During this time, he gained vast experience in practise management and all fields of litigation in both High- and Magistrate Courts. 

Subsequently he joined the Cavanagh & Richards team, more specifically the Witbank branch, and is committed to providing high quality legal services and to resolve complex legal disputes.



Ms. Loots completed her Baccalaures Legum (LLB) at the University of Pretoria in 2016 and found great interest in the field of labour law. 

She decided to do her dissertation pertaining to the subject of Restraint of Trade.
She was employed by De Oliveira Serrão Attorneys as a candidate attorney where she was exposed to legal fields such as immigration law, family law and general civil litigation. She ceded her articles and joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys where she further intends to gain knowledge in commercial litigation and labour law practice. 

Ms. Loots is a team player and enthusiastically embraces change. She has the ability and unwavering commitment to exceed customer expectations. Ms. Loots has been admitted as an attorney in October 2019.



Ms. Brown obtained her LLB degree from the University of the North-West where she worked as a legal intern at the Community Law Centre. 

She has further been a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society since 2014.
Ms. Brown worked as a candidate attorney at Viljoen-French and Chester Incorporated during February 2018 to August 2018 and subsequently joined our team.

Her specialities include family- labour- and criminal law. She has gained vast experience and knowledge in matters pertaining to children, divorces, protection orders, maintenance matters, arbitrations, disciplinary hearings, evictions and criminal trials.

She strives to always deliver an exceptional service to our clients, keeping our clients’ best interests at heart. Her goal is to win her cases and to achieve desirous results for her clients.



Ms. Leeferink obtained her Baccalaureus Legum (LLB) degree at the University of Pretoria and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court.
She is loyal to the core and always walk the extra mile to assist her clients with their various legal matters. She is passionate about her profession as a legal practitioner and prides herself in doing her work with extreme accuracy and efficiency.

Ms Leeferink’s fields of interest include civil litigation, family law and criminal law. She further enjoys doing legal research and is of the intention to obtain her LLM in the near future.



Mr. Schmahl completed his LLB at the University of Pretoria. 

He was employed at Cilliers and Reynders Incorporated as a candidate attorney during 2010.
He gained further experience at Jay Incorporated where-after he joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys. His practice is centered on criminal defense, civil litigation, legal research and family law. His focus, and indeed Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys’ focus, is to provide clients with high quality legal services.



Ms. Van Wyk has completed her B.Comm Industrial Psychology & Labour Relations Management Degree with a distinction and subsequently her LLB Degree at the North-West University. 

She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society and focused her dissertation on the subject of Trust Law.
She was employed by Daphne Pick Inc. Attorneys as a candidate attorney where she gained experience in family law. 

She ceded her articles and joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys, specifically the Witbank branch, where she intends to gain experience in different fields of the Law.



Mr. Deneys completed his LLB at the University of Johannesburg. He commenced with his articles of clerkship in 2019 at Gerard Culhane Attorneys, where he obtained vital experience in civil litigation, family law matters and the drafting of various contracts.

He furthermore obtained his LLM in labour law in 2019, with a distinction for his dissertation on the Constitutionality of a Mandatory Retirement Age in South Africa.
His dissertation is said to be published in one of the esteemed law journals during 2020. His hard work and dedication has enabled him to become a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

As a result of his passion for labour and commercial law, as well as and civil litigation, he joined the elite team of Cavanagh & Richards in 2020 where he plans to grow in all aspects of the law in order to provide our clients with the best service. 

Mr. Deneys is in constant pursuit of excellence in his work and as part of the team at Cavanagh & Richards. He believes that consistency is key and he wishes to provide his clients with the most beneficial and efficient outcome.



Ashleigh completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Law at the Independent institute of Education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and second in her graduating class.

Thereafter, she went on to complete a postgraduate LL. B degree at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Furthermore, she completed her LL. B degree with extra honors electives. She has gained experience as a student counselor in the Wits Law Clinic during her time as a scholar. 

In the Family and Simulated Marriages Unit, she dealt with complex family law matters. 

Furthermore, she participated in the Moot Court Society where she engaged in complex litigation strategy.

Ashleigh is passionate about her work in the legal field and wishes to grow with the team at Cavanagh and Richards Attorneys. She demonstrates interests in criminal and civil litigation, but she is excited to gain experience in all legal matters. She always goes the extra mile and provides her clients with impeccable service. Her focus is to achieve the most desirable outcome for her clients’ legal needs.



Mr. de Witt completed his BCom Law degree in 2018, and then subsequently completed his LLB degree in 2020 at the University of Pretoria.
He always seeks a challenge, as such he completed his dissertation in the International Humanitarian Law, focusing on Artificial Intelligence.

He is a hard worker who is keen-to-learn and gain new skills during his time at Cavanagh & Richards.



Ms. Cavanagh has more than 25 years’ experience in the law industry. 

She is the Office Manager at Head Office based in Centurion, a paralegal secretary and renders bookkeeping assistance to the financial department. She is further responsible for the smooth operation and day-to-day management of the firm.
She has a sound track record of strong performance in high volume, high pressure environments. 

She skillfully manages office- and staff relationships, administrative duties and finances of the firm with her robust knowledge and practice management experience.



Ms. Dippenaar has 20 years’ extensive experience in bookkeeping, debtor’s management and property management, together with a strong administrative background.
She has the ability to integrate processes and procedures that impact efficiency and positively affect productivity. She understands the vital role that accurate bookkeeping plays to ensure progress, development and success in business.



Ms. Groenewald has 25 years’ experience in bookkeeping, office administration and office management. 

Due to her experience, she has the ability to manage time wisely, has excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment.
Her ability to organise and execute daily tasks ensures that the day-to-day management and the administrative duties of the Witbank office are properly managed.

She is a huge asset to Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys as she renders a professional and efficient legal service to our attorneys and clients.



Ms. Jordaan joined Cavanagh & Richards Attorneys as a receptionist and administrative assistant at our Centurion branch.

She is currently studying a degree in Business Administration through Mancosa to further her career.

Ms. Jordaan ensures the smooth and efficient running of our reception and administration department. She is a very organized enthusiast and ensures that the execution of her duties are done in a professional and competent manner. 



Ms. Saayman strives to provide the best legal secretarial assistance and believes that a positive attitude leads to positive outcomes. 
She is of the intention to continue her Electrical Engineering degree and further to study towards a LLB degree in the near future. She is very passionate about law and is looking forward to advance her career under the guidance and leadership of the Cavanagh & Richards team.
